Baby Blessing

I know this is SUPER late in posting, but we blessed baby Henry on his 2 week birthday - August 12, 2012. The reason we did it so soon was because my sister Karla remarried August 14th and all of my siblings were in town! What an opportunity! In the circle there was James, my dad, his dad, Joe Schmitt, Brad Stephenson, Lance Hori (Kar's new hubby), Tom Evans, Terry Schmitt, Wesley Schmitt and Scott Carter. We were so happy that so many family members were able to attend!

We had a great visit with everyone. And the star of the show was so sweet!

Here are some of the things James said in the blessing:

He will be known on the records of the church as Henry James Schmitt. He was blessed to be an influence for good in his family and to others. That his love would radiate to others, that he will inspire others. He was blessed that he would have a testimony of the Gospel, to be able to strengthen others in our Savior's church. He was blessed with health that he may actively serve others. Also that he may show his parents what he needs so that we may be able to raise him well.

It was a wonderful blessing and a wonderful day!

Lily's First Birthday

Here's a summary of Lily's first birthday in pictures! We had Leathra & Tom Evans and family, Terry & Alice Schmitt, Mom Schmitt & Wes, Scott & Olivia Carter family, Jason & Carina Lindsay family, Jillyn Nelson and kids, and Lily's current babysitter Mia & Cory Johnson.

You may notice that Lily has a bow in some pictures and not in others. You may also notice that she's trying to pull the bow out of her hair in many of them. Ha!

We sat in the grass (which Lily loves) to open presents. Abbylee was very helpful in bringing over presents and announcing what wonderful toys Lily received.

She's had so much fun this morning playing with her new toys from the Lindsays, the Evans, and Lindsay Grauling (who stopped by just before bed). Lily can't wait to try the bath toys from Terry and Alice. We can't wait to dress her in the cute clothes from the Johnsons and Carters. We are so grateful to have such wonderful friends and family! Thanks for celebrating Lily's birth with us!

PCL YA Extravaganza

For non-Provo library nerds, I'm talking about the Provo City Library Young Adult Book Festival. Many thanks to Es for getting tickets and the ladies for getting us good seats!

Scott Westerfeld of bestselling Uglies Trilogy and Leviathan book fame was the keynote speaker. He was actually a really great and funny speaker. He explained that his book has pictures because he got the Japanese copy of Uglies that had pictures and he wondered, why do they get pictures and not us? It was really interesting.

He showed several of the pictures that are in the book Leviathan. I haven't read Leviathan yet, but I liked the Uglies books.

Then, he signed books. It was really bright in the signing room so the picture makes me look a little scary.

Tons of local authors were also there and doing Q&A and signing. I wish I could have stayed longer but Lily was at home needing food. It was a great event and I really hope that they do it again. Excellent job, P-town.
