36 weeks

Here I am. Beached whale with a wobbly walk and growing out of maternity clothes. I've gained 15 lbs to date, which is pretty normal. I'm "supposed" to gain between 15-25 lbs. I really hope I don't add on another 10 lbs in the next 4 weeks. My baby is about 6 lbs herself, so almost ready!
I'm struggling to sleep, or even move myself in the bed. I get out of breath on one flight of stairs and if I sit too long, my feet get all swollen. Pretty normal stuff! I don't think I've "dropped," since I think I'd notice that. I still have back pain, but I've used a belly strap to ease that pain. (Good tip, Leah!) Baby kicks my ribs all day, but her foot is so little and cute, I can't be mad.
Anyway, I'm rambling. I'm looking forward to her birthing with hopeful optimism because I can't wait to meet her!

  2. Hey Malea! You look great! You probably don't remember me, but we worked at Sugar and Spice together... I think I talked to you about James, too, before you guys started dating? I can't remember. Anyway, love the blog! It's nice to see people from college and their lives. Congrats on the new little one! Being a mother is the best thing in the world! Good luck with your birth--I was a labor and delivery nurse for more than a year, and a nursery and postpartum nurse before that, so I've seen it all! You look really really good for being so far along. You'll do great!

  3. Yeah, For both of my pregnancies I gained at least 10 lbs in the last month. Before that I had gained hardly anything, but then in those darn last 4 weeks I gained a ton! And last time I tried not to! Oh well. C'est la vie.

And I HATE that kicking the ribs! It hurts so darn bad! Oh well, at least it will all be over soon. :) Get as much sleep as you can now, because as one of my mom books says, "You'll never have another good night sleep in your life." Te he he. Funny, but not so much that first month after your baby is born. ;o)

  4. Oh, you are not a beached whale! You're crazy! I think pregnant woman look great. Seriously, I loved how big I got. Embrace it- you're only gonna be that way for a little bit longer.

  5. Thanks for the blog entry, Malea. It is so great to hear how your pregnancy is progressing. Pretty usual and normal stuff, which is what you want. I am SO proud of you for switching Dr's. IT IS your birth experience and you and James are calling the shots! Go girl! I could never get comfortable with the rib bashing. It really does feel bruised, doesn't it? Krista's friend told Krista her baby broke her rib. I don't think so. Anyway, you are the cutest prego lady I have seen! Hang in there, my love! Keep getting effleurage (gentle massages) from James; it will help with your discomfort.
