Love Pills

James is SO cute. We couldn't decide what to do for Valentine's Day for each other so we kind of agreed that if we felt like it, we would do something and if not we couldn't be mad a each other. Mostly, money was tight so neither of us wanted to spend much.


My adorable husband gave me the following "Love Pills" for Valentine's Day.

He used an empty bottle from work and some pill capsules that they had lying around. He typed up some things that he loves about me and folded them up and put them in the capsules.

It was so creative and sweet! It's the kind of gift that I adore! Didn't cost a thing and shows that he loves me enough not only to write down what he loves but also enough to sit and fold the little papers and painstakingly put them into the capsules. He admitted that it wasn't his idea, but the fact that he told me that made it even cuter.

I absolutely love this man. James, you are the love of my life. I can't imagine my life without your silly antics and sweet moments.

I hope my lame-o cleaning of your car wasn't a disappointment! My favorite pill was that you "love my laugh, even my fake one."

I'm a Stylish Blogger

My friend, Heather, passed on to me the Stylish Blogger Award. I've actually never done one of these things, but this one asks me to list 7 things about myself and then tag 7 people. I don't think 7 people even read my blog, but here are 7 things about me:

1. I adore my baby. Being a mom is the greatest and most wonderful feeling in the world. If you're trying to decide if parenthood is for you, you should know that this is one life change that is rewarding each and every day.

2. I'm working 25 hours a week right now and I still have mixed feelings. To be honest, I'm really glad Lily has had the time to get out of the house and spend time with my AMAZING friend Jillyn and her little guy, Noah. Lily and Noah love each other. It's great for both of them to have a little friend. When Jill has her baby in May, Noah will be a great big brother!

3. I wish I lived closer to my family! We love having great friends and James' brother nearby, but I wish I lived closer to my sisters! Raising our kids together would be so much fun! Especially since Lily has 4 cousins within 6 months of her age.

4. I like living in Provo. Phew! That's something I've never been able to admit to myself. I have always been sort of an East Coast snob and secretly had ambivalent feelings toward Utah. Well, now I've lived in Utah for 16 of my 28 years of life. I do still hope that I might move back east someday and live near family, but I really enjoy the community here. Heavenly Father knows this is where I need to be and I'm happy to be here.

5. I love NPR. It's always on at my house and in my car. I hereby apologize to my future kids who will be forced to listen with mom.

6. My husband is perfect for me. We were just talking last night and I was saying how he always is able to surprise me and he keeps my life interesting. If I recall correctly, I said he was "wonderfully random, but not in a predictable way." I'm such a redundant idiot. I'm so glad he loves me just the way I am.

7. I'm currently addicted to Peggle. Before that was Plants vs. Zombies. Before that was Freecell. And Bookworm. And Scrabulous. And Brick Breaker. I am an addict. I love puzzle games.

Giggles

I absolutely adore this lady. She has the sweetest giggles.

Sitting Up

Lily is working hard on learning to sit up! Soon she'll be feeding herself. (She doesn't quite get the way to do it yet, as shown.)

She just can't wait to get big! I love seeing her grow, but I say SLOW DOWN!

Domestic Denise

My wonderful friend and freshman year roommate, Denise, is so great. Right before Lily was born she gave me with totally amazing quiet book for Lily. She made it all by hand! I took a few pictures of my favorite pages. A butterfly comes out of the zipped cocoon!

Lily is adorable. At least I think so. She's learning about some of the wonderful noises her throat can make. This video gets a little giggle and a little growl.

This one is sweet because James loves playing with Lily and I never get it on video. This is the end of This Little Piggy. Sorry it's sideways. And a neat little fact is that Lily's wearing a shirt that my friend Olivia gave me when she announced that she was pregnant for the first time 5 years ago! I saved it and now Lily can wear it.

No Longer Sleeping in the Closet

In November after sleeping in the Pack 'N Play at Marcia's, Lily refused to go back into the bassinet she had been sleeping in. She was about an inch from the top and an inch from the bottom anyway, so we made a quick decision.

We got an old crib from James' parents and fit it into our closet. It was great because it is smaller than a normal crib, but is miraculously up to safety regulations. Being about 25 years old, it had to be rigged to stay together, but dad Schmitt can rig anything to work. We covered the "mattress" in plastic wrap so we could eliminate dust or anything old from spreading. It was a great little in-between bed for our lady. Don't mind how ghetto this looks. It sort of was.


Lily's pediatrician said that 6 months is a good time to move her into her own room and when all of our Christmas guests left, we made the move. I knew it might be a hard few days, but we made the push to get her to sleep longer at night. We set up a little fan for white noise, a humidifier for her little stuffy nose and a spacious new crib. Thanks Leathra and Tom for letting us borrow the crib!

And best of all: Lily slept for 10 straight hours for the first time Monday night!

Of course, she didn't do that again last night, but I think we're well on our way. Woohoo!
