Baby Names

So, since before Malea became pregnant we have been discussing possible names for our children. To be completely honest, boys names have been pretty easy. There are several names that both Malea and I like. Girls names, on the other hand, have been a bit more elusive. Malea and I have yet to agree on even one name. The closest we have come is May/Mei and Lilly/Lily. As you can see we differ on the spelling of these names.

So to help us decide on a name for our, as of yet, unnamed girl, I am throwing out this little post/contest. Help Malea and I decided on a name and we may choose your suggestion.

The details of this little contest:
1. Any name can be suggested, but try to avoid any profanity.
2. The more information you can give us about the name you choose the better your chances of being selected as the winner.
3. Be creative.
4. Don't be afraid to suggest something that has meaning to yourself.

Well that's it. Thanks for all of your help. And to those of you who think that I am just being lazy in my parenting duties, you are right, and I could really use your help.

  1. My Hubby and I always had a hard time agreeing on names too. My favorite names are old fashioned - Ruby, Hazel, and Charlotte are a few of my favs.

  2. Humm... I sure like Olivia. Because you know, I know this really cool girl who's names Olivia. She's the bomb.

But seriously names are hard. I like names that mean something to you, you know? Even if it's more vague. Like I like the name Lincoln. And that's one of my fav presidents. Something like that.

I'll keep brainstorming and see if I can come up with a couple names for you. But I like the name May and Lilly spelled not weird.

    Good luck guys!

  4. I like Elise, it's a variant of Elizabeth and so it means = consecrated to God.

I also like Summer, but no special meaning there, although she will be born in the summer.

Lastly I like Brooke and the idea of life that water gives to those around it. Good luck. I am having the same trouble with boys names.

  5. We considered May, and even now I tell Kye stories about "big boy K and baby May", but honestly who wants to name their child "may schmitt"? Sounds like Kye hiding under the table trying to avoid sitting on the potty. Sorry to be the party pooper on that one. Just something to think about. Joe and I came up with a great family name (Schmitt side) last night: "Dica Effa Schmitt". I laugh even now. Good luck and don't steal our baby name, whatever it is!!

  6. I love the name Lauren Joyce. Barrett would have been named that if he was a girl. It would be a tribute to our wonderful grandparents, but of course Barrett Stephenson is our grandparents last names, so that works too.

  7. I like Lilly Mei, or May. Beautiful. Of course Dad and I have always liked the middle name to be a family name. I will love her no matter what she is named! It'll come to you. Sometimes you have to look at your baby and then say, "yeah, you look like a...Lilly May!"
